As part of the KAIA Network—a collaborative platform incubated at The New School for Social Research where technologists meet researchers, practitioners, and funders to shape the future of AI for social good—my role was to redesign the platform to better convey the startup's core value of inclusive, cross-disciplinary impact. To differentiate KAIA from being just another social network, I focused on designing features that emphasize its unique mission to "Learn, Build, and Collaborate" globally. This included structuring KAIA Labs as a shared knowledge commons for public-good datasets and methodologies, framing signature projects as living, interdisciplinary research initiatives open for contribution, and shaping an AI-powered collaboration matching layer that connects users based on expertise, personality, and shared ethical goals rather than standard social networking metrics.
